Today let’s look at a nice, and quick, choke from the
scarf hold position or kesa gatami. What makes this technique work so well is
the reliably little amount of movement required to pull it off. I particularly
nice setup for this choke is to wait until your opponent tries to work their
arm free. As they pull their arm out they are focusing almost entirely on the
escape allowing you to slip your arm across and apply the choke.
If scarf hold is one of your favourite positions like me
then you should also check out this attack from a previous weekly blog posting,
SCARF HOLD ARM LOCK.
